I’m sitting here editing Valerie + Brad’s wedding and I got to thinking, I never blogged their Lake Somerset engagement pictures! So many things about this session make me happy. First off, Val and Brad. Such an awesome couple who are completely in love. But also the story of how this engagement session came to be.
A while back, I chatted with Val + Brad via Skype (they live in Seattle) and I also met with Valerie at my studio on a quick trip to the Mitten. I was so happy to have them as clients. I love Valerie’s attention to detail and totally love how she valued my opinion on colors, vendors and the timeline of the day. So fast forward a few months later… I’m at the lake, Lake Somerset to be exact, where two of my aunt and uncle’s have cottages. I posted a picture on IG over the 4th of July weekend, tagging Lake Somerset and Valerie responded that her parent’s also had a cottage on the very same lake! I mean, we are Michigan girls and there are lakes everywhere, especially in this area, it was insane that it was the very same lake I’ve spent so many summers at. We started plans to shoot their engagement at the lake the week before their wedding.
Fast forward to October and the most perfect fall Michigan day. We met up at the Cherry Creek Winery and shot a few images before we headed to the lake that held so many memories. I waded in my the lake with my trusty Hunters – a crazy change form the barefoot vibes I normally rock in the summer and made some legit magic with these two. I gotta say, they SHUT IT DOWN!! But, one of my favorite parts about this session is the view of one of my favorite places on the lake… My aunt and uncle’s cottage. If you don’t know where it is, you’ll never spot it, but I know my fam will!
I can’t WAIT to share images from Val + Brad’s wedding. I could keep talking about their engagement session but that only takes away from my editing of their wedding! Back to the editing grind I go, stay tuned for some Inn @ St John’s wedding magic!!
