I’m so happy I was able to be a part of Riley + Ryan’s classic Gem Theatre wedding. I’ve known Riley for a while – I photographed her senior pictures! Since then, I photographed her family and even her sister’s senior pictures. When I received an email from Riley’s mom, Amy about a wedding I knew I had to be there. How lucky am I that I’ve gotten to be a part of these big moments in their family?
Riley + Ryan’s story is one you don’t hear too often anymore. They met in high school and at the time Riley was not a fan of Ryan’s. It wasn’t until they were cast as husband and wife in a a school play that they became friends. Next thing you know, they were dating. Fast forward to now, we are at their wedding. Riley wore the same shoes she wore to prom with Ryan in high school. Their ring barer carried a pillow made for Riley + Ryan by Riley’s sister, Hannah. Riley got ready at one of Detroit’s newest hotel, The Foundation Hotel. It’s such a beautiful place and as I was walking to her room I fell in love with the lines in the hallway. I decided it was the most perfect spot for their first look.
Their ceremony was so sweet, I admit I cried a little. When Riley’s mom started walking down the aisle she started cry and then Hannah started crying and it was just too much. I asked Amy later what got her and she said it was seeing all of the people she loves in one room to witness Riley + Ryan get married. It’s true, being a wedding guest it very special – you are the best of the best, the nearest and dearest, the ride or dies. That’s a pretty big honor. Riley and Ryan were married by Riley’s dad, Jeff. It was beautiful and quick – absolute perfection.
What a party they had. They broke out the glow stick and went to town on the dance floor. It was such a good time, even though I got whipped countless times with those suckers. Ha! #worthit
Riley + Ryan, thank you for letting me be here for all of the big moments in your life. I can’t wait for more and more magical moments with you two! <3
