In the world of social distancing we now find ourselves in, I feel like THIS is the wedding we need to relive over and over, Christine + Von’s Grosse Pointe War Memorial wedding. I have been lucky enough to have my hands in all sorts of parts of this one. You might know by now, but I side hustle at Jen House Design (hands down the best side hustle I could ever have) and it’s not every day that the lead design assistant at Jen House Design gets married. I’ve watched Christine + Von’s wedding unfold from the early planning stages of finding a venue, to the engagement pictures captured by yours truly, to the constantly evolving creative magic working behind the scenes at JHD.
I honestly don’t know where to start here. Having all of this inside info is overwhelming in the best way possible. I just know this is going to be full of good good.
I guess a good place to start is the beginning of the week. Jen, Kendall and Christine had been visualizing it for months – Christine wanted the florals to feel like a fall sunset. She wanted to showcase the beautiful fall flowers and with Jen and Kendall’s cast knowledge of floral design, the plans were set. I know Christine wanted to be hands off that week but she couldn’t resist the urge to create for her wedding. So she came in for a few hours and handmade all of the corsages and bouts for the people she loves. Christine and Kendall also made a special field trip to Muddy Acres Farms to hand pick the dahlia’s that would go into her bouquets and centerpieces. How cool is that?
The studio was full of positivity and good energy when Jen, the queen of bouquets started to create Christine’s bouquet. I’m not kidding when I tell you it almost brought me to tears. I was lucky enough to have an hand in the greening of the centerpieces and having that connection made everything even more special.
Cut to the day of the wedding… Christine and Von were everything you expect a couple to be on their wedding day. A little nervous but incredibly excited. They created a space that was so welcoming, love radiated. I have a hard time trying to pin point my favorite part of their day. But I think it might be their first dance. Christine and Von serenaded each other to Alicia Key’s If I Ain’t Got You and the entire room smiled through happy tears.
I could go on and on but the images really speak for themselves.
